Data from other suppliers

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute collaborates with other meteorological institutes in Europe, and has the authority to license all the data in the ECOMET directory to third parties here in Norway. Our commercial activity is in this context equivalent to a third party. 

When delivering this type of data a customised delivery of our own and others' data and products is set up via ftp or another method. This service must be paid for. Data and products not produced by us may also have a separate data fee. The fees are shown in the ECOMET catalogue below the product summaries for individual countries.

Data fra The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), som blant annet produserer måneds- og sesongvarsel,  formidles gjennom Meteorologisk institutt. Meteorologisk institutt er “handling agent” for data fra ECMWF.

Price estimates made by MET are based on the products wanted. The distribution can be handled by us or set up directly from the ECMWF. In both cases handling fees are applicable. 

Satellite data (AVHRR) from the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) is disseminated through EUMETSAT's secretariat.
